
Getting Your Krones Contiform Heating Right (Without Breaking the Bank)
Let’s be honest: keeping the heating oven in a Krones Contiform blower running smoothly can be a total money pit. The costs just pile up. That’s why we make drop-in replacement heater bulbs. We built them to hit the same specs as the OEM parts, but we’ve figured out how to bring the cost per unit down. They’re designed for one thing: getting those PET preforms preheated fast. The power side of things Krones systems need a lot of punch. You need high-wattage shortwave infrared emitters to get that PET resin to its glass transition temperature quickly. If you don’t, everything slows down. Most of our lamps come in 230V or 400V configurations. If you’re running a high-speed line, you’ll probably want the higher voltage for better heat density. Just a heads-up: double-check your power supply and cabling. If they aren’t rated for the wattage of the bulb, you’re just asking for a premature burnout. Quartz and connections We use high-purity quartz glass because the thermal cycling in these machines is brutal. To make your life easier during maintenance, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They snap in securely, so you aren’t fighting with the hardware when you’re on a tight clock. Some of our versions even have a special coating. It basically pushes the infrared radiation right toward the preform. This means less wasted heat and a much happier cooling system. The stuff people usually miss Here’s the thing: you can put the most expensive, high-output lamp in the world into your machine, but if your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, it won’t matter. You’ll never hit the temperature profile you need. Whenever you’re wiring up a new set of lamps, take a second to look at those reflectors. If they’re beat up, fix them. And please, get the alignment right. Even a tiny tilt can create hot spots on the preform. That leads to uneven wall thickness in your bottles, and nobody wants to deal with that quality headache.
