If you’re dealing with tube burn-outs on your SIG Blomax lines, you know the drill. It’s frustrating. Every time a lamp pops, you aren’t just swapping a part—you’re staring at a dead line and losing money every minute the machine is quiet. Usually, this happens because the lamps just can’t handle the stress. We’ve spent a lot of time figuring out why, and we’ve built our PET preform heater lamps to actually hold up. Why standard tubes keep failing Most quartz tubes have a weak spot at the pinch seal or where they make contact. When you add vibration and the constant “hot-cold-hot” cycle of a production run, they just snap or leak. We changed how these are built. By beefing up that glass-to-metal seal, we’ve made them much tougher. It keeps the vacuum tight and stops the filament from oxidizing, which means the lamp actually lasts. Getting the heat right These are designed for high-intensity shortwave infrared. We’re obsessive about the wattage and voltage because if the heat profile isn’t consistent, your preforms suffer. But here is a pro tip: if you’re running high-wattage tubes, check your airflow. If your ventilation is sluggish, the heat just sits there and “soaks” the lamp ends. That’s a shortcut to a dead bulb. No headaches during install We made these “drop-in” replacements. You don’t have to mess with your wiring or tweak your reflectors. The connectors fit tight, too. No loose fits, no arcing at the terminals, and definitely no annoying flickering like you get with the cheap alternatives. You just put them in and get back to work. One last thing… Even the toughest lamp has a limit. High-density heating puts a lot of pressure on your power supplies. If your voltage is jumping around by more than 5%, it doesn’t matter how strong the quartz is—the lamp is going to wear out faster. Keep your power clean, and these reinforced tubes will take care of the rest.
