We built this little room heater around a 2500W, 400V halogen infrared tube. The high voltage is a smart move—it keeps the current low, so you can run lighter wire and not worry about voltage dropping off over distance. And the 300mm length? It keeps the footprint tight. Seriously tight. Perfect when you’re squeezing things into a small enclosure and need serious power without taking up a mountain of space.
The Design, in Plain Terms
The quartz tube is filled with halogen and runs the filament hot—so it throws out intense near- and shortwave infrared. The coating isn’t there by accident. It keeps everything stable when things heat up and protects the element from the shock of fast on/off cycles. The R7s connector is straight-through and double-ended, so it holds firm and handles the heat right at the tube ends. Installation is simple: line up the pins, seat it, and you’re good.
How It Actually Works in the Field
In small rooms, this heater hits objects and surfaces directly. You feel the warmth where you want it, not just in the air. So you get a quicker warm-up, and you don’t lose all your heat the moment a door opens. The 2500W at 400V delivers strong heat flux, no question. But that also means your enclosure needs proper airflow or heat sinking. If it doesn’t, the surrounding parts will feel it—and the tube will run hotter than it should. This is a direct-heat tool. Treat it like part of the machine, not a quick add-on.
